Hero Has Returned Wiki

Do-Hoon Lim was a minor character in The Warrior Returns. He was the Time Warrior and one of the Resistance Warriors who sided with the South Korean government against the 9-Warriors. He was killed at some point before the main story.

Appearance[]

Despite his elderly appearance, Do-Hoon was only 19 years old by the time of his death, his powers having a side effect that caused him to age rapidly. As an elder, he has a thick set of beard and a mustache with whitening hair. His eyes are constantly closed.

Personality[]

Do-Hoon was shown to be a very kind-hearted, selfless, compassionate, and loyal young man. This is seen where he had unhesitantly used his abilities as the Time Hero to save his otherworld from the Demon King, even at the cost of burning through his lifespan and reducing him to an aged old man.

Do-Hoon deeply loved and cherished his parents, having been grateful to be born to such kind-hearted people as them. As shown, Do-Hoon has a strong sense of maternal/paternal loyalty to them, due to the efforts they made to have him despite their old age and him barely surviving as a baby when he was born, he felt he had to return home to his world despite his reduced life span and aged appearance as he knew his parents would be worried sick for him and he felt the strong need to return home to reassure them he was fine.

Later after returning home, however, Do-Hoon initially felt hesitant to tell his parents about his appearance and the reason for his disappearance. As he was afraid they would not believe him and would reject him if he did so. However, he was overjoyed when his parents didn’t and instead embraced him, overjoyed that he came home, when Sancho told them the truth about what had happened to him.

As shown as Do-Hoon acclimated back to life on Earth, he was shown to greatly misses his days as a regular student and his friends and school life. However, like initially with his family, he was hesitant to tell them what had happened to him, not wanting to burden them, having instead decided to simply stay back and watch them enjoy their regular lives instead and stopped Sancho from explaining to them the truth, telling her watching them in peace is enough.

However, as shown after Minsu Kim began going on his rampage, however, Do-Hoon’s selflessness and love for his family went against each other. As he wanted to take action to stop the rampaging Sword Hero and join the government in their efforts to stop him. However, this desire went against the wishes of his parents, who did not want him to fight, especially after everything he went through, and simply wanted him to live and survive with them, putting Do-Hoon in a difficult position as he did not want to emotionally hurt his mother and father more by going into a battle he likely had zero chances of surviving.

During his final fight against Minsu Kim, Do-Hoon had completely burned through his remaining 6 years of life to fuel his powers, resulting in him completely becoming senile. As shown during the end of their battle, where Do-Hoon had completely forgotten his identity, what he was doing and what was happening around him and asked Minsu Kim where he was and who he was, completely forgetting that he was in the middle of a heated battle and that he was his enemy. As Do-Hoon reminisced his happiest memories of his time when he was alive, he remembered who he was and continued his final attack against Minsu Kim. Just as he was about to be killed, he apologized to everyone for not being able to stop Minsu and showed gratitude towards them on his fun journey of his life.

History[]

Youth[]

Do-Hoon was born to an elderly couple that, while they always wanted a child, had endured several miscarriages before giving birth to him. As a baby, he had to be put in intensive care due to having been born prematurely, but he ultimately survived. Finally having a child, his parents showered him with love and attention whilst working hard at their jobs for his sake, causing him to feel greatly indebted to them.

Time World[]

At some point, Do-Hoon was transported to the Time world and tasked to defeat a Demon Lord. Only being able to return home to his parents if he succeeded, Do-Hoon accepted and successfully completed his task. However, to complete his quest, he was forced to use his given abilities, to exchange his lifespan for power, to sacrifice all but six years of his life.

Afterward, the Time World's princess offered to let Do-Hoon stay in their world, fearing that the now elderly man would have nothing to return to. However, he was adamant about returning home, citing his obligations to his parents, causing her to cave. Still, before he left, the princess compelled him to take a young girl named Sancho with him as his "squire". While Do-Hoon had reservations, he ultimately agreed when the girl claimed that she would simply throw herself into the portal if he refused. The two then went back to Earth together.

Warrior Crisis[]

Current Timeline[]

When Do-Hoon returned to Earth, he was hesitant about reuniting with his parents, as he feared how they would react to see their son having become such as an old and fragile man. However, Sancho went on ahead to tell Do-Hoon's parents, who then came out of their restaurant to reunite with Do-Hoon.

However, their reunion was short-lived as not too long after, news of Minsu Kim's crimes were on the news. Do-Hoon was baffled by this as he realized that he wasn't the only person who had been turned into a Hero. One night, when the family was eating dinner after turning off the news regarding Yuseong Jin volunteering to fight Minsu Kim, government agents stormed into Do-Hoon's house demanding to know where Do-Hoon was.

Original Timeline[]

In the original timeline, before Seongjun Lee went back and started altering events, Do-Hoon also sided with the Resistance Warriors against that world's version of the 9-Warriors. Unfortunately, he would end up being killed in the resulting war, with Seongjun being unable to save him no matter how many times he reset.

Alternate Timelines[]

When Seongjun Lee first became trapped in a time loop, he initially took advantage of it by saving Do-Hoon's life, which was one of his regrets from the original timeline. Unfortunately, as Seongjun continued time-looping, they would ultimately become enemies when he switched sides and joined the 9-Warriors in hopes that one of the Resistance Warriors might finally be able to kill him.

Powers & Abilities[]

Hero of Time[]

As the Time Warrior, Do-Hoon Lim's abilities revolved around exchanging his lifespan, or "time", to boost his physical abilities, forcefully aging him as a side-effect. Depending on the amount of time sacrificed, these buffs could be so great as to allow him to temporarily fight on-par with Minsu Kim and even defeat the Time World's Demon Lord in a single blow. However, the buffs were only temporary, causing several characters to note that he is not suited for prolonged battles, especially due to the cost of said buffs.

As part of his summoning to the time world, or as part of his role as the Time Warrior, Do-Hoon had a counter engraved on his body that indicated how much time he had remaining.

  • 15 Days - Protect Chronos: A skill where by using 15 days of his life, Do-Hoon can open up his storage dimension where he stores his gear and equip them to his body.
  • 1 Year - “Weight of Time”: A skill where by sacrificing one year of his life, Do-Hoon can increase the speed, strength and weight of his hammer strike. As shown, this skill was powerful enough to pressure Sword Hero, Minsu Kim.
    • Adding 1 More Year: Total of 2 Years: A follow up skill where by adding an additional year, Do-Hoon can further increase the power of his hammer strike.
  • ”1 Day”(18 Years, 5 Months, 11 Days, 7 Hours, 38 Minutes and 55 Seconds: Total of 25 Years, 6 Months, and 3 Days): Later, after pushing himself to the brink during his final battle against Minsu Kim, Do-Hoon poured the last of his lifespan of one day into Demon Hammer Chronos to make his final attack. As he slowly died, Do-Hoon remembered every second of the life he lived, and remembering and going back to all these flashbacks had somehow distorted his concept of “time”. These memories and flashbacks endlessly empowered him, granting his final attack the equivalent power of the entirety of his lifespan prior to becoming a Hero being added on to the time already given as he dealt his final blow to Minsu Kim.

Equipment[]

  • Demon Hammer Chronos: During his time in his otherworld, Do-Hoon used the Demon hammer Chronos to fight and channel his abilities. The Hammer itself possessed the ability to literally drain its wielders lifespan and its mass and attack power increases proportionally to the lifespan taken. These increases are implied to be permanent and not temporary, meaning that the Hammer becomes stronger for each new Hero who uses it, as Do-Hoon comments that the weight continues to increase as the body needed to endure the weight breaks down. After his death, his hammer was given to the Spear Hero.

Trivia[]

  • One of the previous time heroes was revealed to be Don Quixote, a knight said to be over 50 years old who still went through various knightly adventures and romances despite his age. It was revealed that his age, like with Do-Hoon, is due to him having burned his lifespan using his abilities.
  • When seeing news about Minsu Kim’s rampage, Do-Hoon immediately asked Sancho if he truly was the only hero summoned to the Time World. Hinting that until that day, he had never guessed or theorized that there may be other warriors summoned to other Otherworlds.
  • Do-Hoon had apparently theorized that he would eventually suffer and succumb to dementia due to his old age inevitably. After returning from the Time World, he only had 6 years of his lifespan remaining, heavily implying that regardless of the timelines that Seongjun Lee has travelled back to and change, Do-Hoon was destined to meet a tragic end before the other heroes.
    • It's shown that using his abilities at an advanced age will indeed cause him to experience dementia and other age-related problems. During his fight against Minsu Kim, his body deteriorates as he expends his life force, to the point that his teeth start falling out and he becomes noticeably skinnier. As he ages, he loses control of his bladder, experiences dementia and drooling involuntarily
