Hero Has Returned Wiki

Hans Joseph Belgisch was a minor antagonist in The Warrior Returns. He was the 20th-century Faith Warrior and a German officer during World War II, being the true mastermind behind the conflict. Following the war, he was sealed in a crystal until being released to be used as a weapon against Minsu Kim.

Appearance[]

Hans is a middle-aged man with hollow cheekbones and a scar on the left side of his lips. He wears a black pea coat with matching pants and a Swastika armband on his left arm.

Personality[]

As shown, Belgisch was stated to be one of the bloodthirsty and insane heroes of the world, having been stated to be the main perpetrator who ignited the second world war by using his abilities as the faith hero to spread and strengthen the insanity of the Nazi philosophy. Belgisch himself was shown to have a profound desire for more power and authority and admitted that his overall dream and end goal was taking over the world and enslaving humanity.

After being released from his prison, Belgisch himself was shown to have been overjoyed at his freedom and immediately declared his desire to begin World War Three, further highlighting his depravity and thirst for blood and power.

As shown, Belgisch was shown to be supremely self-confident and narcissistic, believing that he was the greatest man to walk the earth and destined to rule over the planet. This disposition greatly strengthened his powers as the Hero of Faith as this belief was the cornerstone of his “faith”. Belgisch also showcased to be highly intelligent and perceptive, having immediately deduced the circumstances of his release from prison and the state of the world based on what little information he could gather from his surroundings. Belgisch himself worked in the capacity of an advisor and politician during his time as a Nazi High up and unlike Siegfried and Jonas, assisted in the Nazi war effort in shadows by using his powers to spread the insanity of the Nazi Philosophy.

However, when Minsu Kim overwhelmed him and killed over two-thirds of Europe’s population, his faith was shaken. He was proven to be a coward, who only relied on his powers and followers to fuel his ego. At the end of his life, when he pleaded to Minsu Kim to spare him and fight another day, he was killed by the latter in disgrace and despair.

History[]

World War II[]

During WWII, Belgisch sided with the Nazi Party of Germany alongside the Sword Hero, Siegfried, and Golem Hero, Jonas. Belgisch in particular was shown to work closely with Adolf Hitler, the leader of the Nazi Party, and during the war, took advantage and worsened the Nazi insanity using his power as the Faith Warrior.

During the last stages of the war, Belgisch was cornered by the three heroes of the opposing side, the Glacial Hero, Transformation Hero and Crystal Hero after the Sword and Golem Heroes, Siegfried and Jonas, were defeated. After an intense battle, Belgisch was successfully sealed by the Crystal Warrior, Sir Pendragon, in a gigantic amber crystal, and the key to opening the seal was entrusted to the United Kingdom royal family.

Power and Abilities[]

Faith Hero[]

During World War II, Belgisch was considered to be one of the most powerful Heroes of his generation and was considered an even bigger threat than the Sword Hero and Golem Hero of their time. As seen during the last stages of the war, it required the cooperation of the Glacial Hero Ivan Pushkin, Transformation Hero Marie Stevenson, and Crystal Hero Pendragon to fight him and even then, the three were only able to seal him and suffered severe injuries, with Pendragon succumbing to his wounds in the end.

Similar to his successor, Hana Baek, Belgisch's unique form of faith draws upon the negative emotions of his "believers" to brainwash and control them to fuel his powers.

As shown, like all Faith Heroes, the foundation of Belgsich’s powers is tied to his sense of faith, in this case, Belgisch possessed absolute faith in himself and believed that he was superior to everyone and everything and thus had the divine right to rule over the world.

And should this faith be compromised, his abilities will come undone. This is seen during his war against the demon lord Minsu Kim, where after Belgisch slowly realizes how overwhelmingly powerful Minsu is and it begins to dawn on him that even if he converts the entirety of humanity into becoming his believers, he still wouldn't be able to beat him, his powers slowly fell apart as his absolute and narcissistic “faith” in his superiority over all others was completely shattered.

  • Faith Magic: As the Hero of Faith, Belgisch has been shown to utilize magic and skills that primarily focus on the usage of the "faith" his believers have towards him. Belgisch's "faith" is shown to be based on "Fascism", where he can brainwash and control individuals into becoming fascists Nazis.
    • First Authority of Belgisch: Even if what he says is a complete lie, as long as his words cause the mind and heart of his target to falter, Belgisch can immediately brainwash them into becoming his believer.
    • Second Authority of Belgisch: Similar to his successor, Belgisch can heal his injuries and even revive himself after being killed by having his believers sacrifice themselves. As shown, after Minsu Kim obliterates his original body, Belgisch was able to take over the body of one of his “believers” by having him snap his neck. Belgisch has also showcased to use of this skill as a form of teleportation, with him having his believers kill themselves and revive him in their location once they get close enough to his target.
    • Third Authority of Belgisch: Similar to Hana, Belgisch has showcased the ability to transform his believers into objects for his use. By clutching his “follower” and saying “Deform”, Belgsich has shown the ability to transform one of them into binoculars and back into a human by saying “Restore”. Belgisch was also able to transform his believers into simple weapons such as a sword. Later Belgisch himself showcased the ability to transform his "believers" into more complex weapons and constructs, such as an army of tanks, and a fleet of fighter airplanes, and transform and use them as the ammunition and firebombs fired by them.

Trivia[]

  • Unlike Hana Baek or Saint Damian Arcadius, Belgisch did not appear to possess the ability or skill to use his “faith” to summon otherworldly beings.
  • Hana Baek is Belgisch’s direct successor as the new Hero of Faith of the 21st Century. Hana, due to trauma experienced in her early life, became one of the 9-Warriors to go on an omnicidal rampage in Korea and then the world after returning from the Faith World and acquiring immense power.
  • Saint Damian Arcadius is one of Belgisch’s predecessors as the Faith Hero, with Damian having become a Faith Hero centuries before Beligsch, during the Medival Ages and used his powers to help the people of Earth after his return and ultimately helped establish the catholic faith using his miracles.
