Ivan Pushkin

Ivan Pushkin was a supporting character in The Warrior Returns. He was the old generation Glaciation Warrior who was called in to stop Minsu Kim after the 9-Warriors had conquered all of South Korea and began to spread their influence over the rest of the world.

Appearance[]

As a young boy, Ivan Pushkin had an average height and build, with brown hair and blue eyes.

As a teenager, he wore a standard military uniform.

During his time in another world, he donned a black undersuit paired with ice-forged armor.

In the present day, Ivan is a well-built man in his golden years, dressed in a military uniform adorned with numerous badges. He has neatly combed grey hair and a matching beard, with a single scar running down his left eye.

Later, after forming a final pact with the Ice Witch of the Glacial World, Ivan transformed into an Undead Lich. In this form, he appears as a black skeleton clad in full plate armor, with a fur-lined cloak and a crown..

Personality[]

As a young child, Ivan Pushkin was a nervous young boy who cared for his family greatly, choosing to enlist in the army in exchange for a three months worth of flour for his family. During the time of war, he was horrified from watching the atrocities of war.

After surviving the other world and defeating the Demon King of that world, he became a confident man who is willing to charge head-first into battle and abhors violence greatly. He is also a humble individual who only wished for a world where even children does not need to suffer.

Despite his love for peace, he is not one to back down from a fight as he quickly decided to kill the Hero of Sword after realizing he is beyond saving. He is also shown to be very intelligent, using the knowledge he learns from the Golem Hero and the Sword Hero in order to overpower Kim in the present day.

History[]

Beginning[]

Before Ivan became a hero, he was born into a poor family and drafted into the trenches during World War I. The horrors of battle left him deeply traumatized, and in a moment of distraction, he failed to notice a grenade thrown into his bunker, resulting in his death. However, instead of passing on, he was summoned to another world by its Goddess, who tasked him with saving her realm from the grip of the demon lord. He later returned to Earth as the “Hero of Glaciation.”

During World War II, Ivan’s powers caught the attention of Hitler, who recognized the threat Ivan posed. In response, the German army deployed their strongest forces, including two other heroes: Siegfried, the Hero of Sword, and Jonas, the Hero of Golem, to confront him. Ivan ultimately defeated the Golem Warrior, and as he prepared to strike the final blow on Siegfried, the sword hero asked if Ivan had any goals in the war. Ivan replied simply that he wanted to end the conflict quickly so his comrades could return home to their families. He then killed Siegfried.

In the final stages of WWII, Ivan joined forces with Marie Stevenson and Sir Pendragon to confront Nazi Germany’s last hero, Hans Joseph Belgisch, the Faith Hero of the 20th Century. After a grueling battle, the three heroes managed to defeat Belgisch. Sir Pendragon then used a sealing ability to trap him indefinitely within an amber crystal. The battle left Ivan noticeably exhausted, a testament to Belgisch’s immense power as the strongest hero of their era.

Old Generation[]

When Minsu Kim advancing to North Korea, turning Pyongyang into a wasteland. Ivan was pulled out from retirement under the order of the Russian government and the Republic of North Korea. He was seen standing in front of Kim and before they begun their fight, Ivan asked Kim why would he commit such atrocities. When Kim replies that he doesn't know anymore, Ivan responsed there isn't a legitimate reason for slaughter and prepared to engage in combat.

Ivan showed his skills, he easily blocked the slashes of Minsu Kim's sword, which was impossible for anyone to do. He has the strongest fighting power, such as freezing his ankles and punishing his face so that his face becomes bloody, while he freezes Minsu Kim's body with force to prevent him from getting frostbite. Using his long experience of living and fighting on the battlefield for more than 100 years, he showed a versatile and skillful use of his abilities. However, Minsu Kim managed to counterattack and swing his sword, showing a scene where his neck was cut off.

However, he hides and control within an ice-clone that he created in order to catch Kim off-guard. In a surprise attack, he stabs Minsu Kim's heart, predicts that Minsu Kim will counterattack, and blocks them all with his summons. The method of freezing from the inside neutralized the protection of the goddess Kim Min-soo and drove him to the point of death within 30 seconds, demonstrating the overwhelming difference in experience and magnificence of working as a hero. In addition, in order to eliminate one more chance of winning Kim Min-soo, he summons the Nazi army that he defeated with ice, Siegfried, the warrior of the squadron sword, and Jonas, the champion of the squadron golem, to respond.

In the end, Minsu Kim is pushed into a corner with a limit in front of the overwhelming amount, and one arm is completely shattered. Nevertheless, when he resists fiercely with a sword in his mouth, he surprises him with a technique called Absolute Zero Temperature and freezes it completely. He leaned on Kim Min-soo, who was frozen, and said that he was sorry that this is all he could do for now.

Ironically, at this time, all of Minsu Kim's comrades from another world are summoned in front of Kim Min-soo. When Ivan realizes this, he tries to tell them that Minsu Kim is the villain in this scenario, but given how Ivan had used his glaciation powers on the environment around them, Minsu Kim's comrades believe that it was Ivan himself who was the demon lord.

Minsu Kim's comrades all fight against Ivan. However, Ivan is unable to fight to his full potential because of the injuries he got from fighting Minsu Kim after pushing himself to the brink despite his age. After he is struck by a fatal blow by Jin, he lies on the brink of death. However, as he lied on the ground, the snow witch from the world he once transferred to arrived and made a deal with him, that if he gives her something, she would grant any wish Ivan wanted in return. When Ivan wishes for the power to be able to keep peace in the world, in return, the snow witch takes Ivan's 'epic.' This turns Ivan into an undead glaciation king.

With his newfound power, Ivan summons a massive undead army and dragon and kills all of Minsu Kim's comrades ,one by one wish various methods when they tried to buy time to help break Minsu Kim out of the froze ice seal Ivan had put upon him.

As Minsu Kim mourns the deaths of his comrades, Ivan tries to finish him off once and for all using his undead warriors. However, he unexpectedly turns Minsu Kim into Earth's Demon King. Shocked that he was the cause of this, Ivan tries to kill Minsu Kim. However, just as he was beheading his enemy, Minsu Kim effortlessly kills Ivan. With the last of Ivan's strength, he created a snowstorm out of the many pieces of his own destroyed body to stall Minsu as long as it can to buy some time for the World.

Power & Abilities[]

Hero of Glaciation[]

Befitting his title, Ivan is a tremendously skilled mage specializing in ice magic who honed it to a great extent during his time in isolation. He is capable of using those who was frozen to death as his minion and create weapons of any kind out of the very materials he control. He is even able to manipulate the weather to some extent.

Pernament Frost - Ivan breathed a breeze of a blizzard, affecting the surrounding area with a cold temperature.

Ice familiar Land Tortoise - Ivan Summon a tortoise made of ice to block incoming attacks and use an offensive attack.

Ice Familiar Black Bear - Ivan summoned a Bear to maul and lunch a powerful claw attack at the opponent.

Ice Familiar Seagull Flock: Bird Strike - Ivan summoned a flock of seagulls to attack the opponent. The seagulls land a mighty peck at the opponent.

Ice Familiar Matryoshka - Ivan made an iced double of himself in order to hide inside, and avoid being damaged.

Unknown Ice Dagger - Ivan crafts a dagger made of ice to stab the opponent.

Ice Familiar Giant Squid - Ivan summons a giant squid made of ice to use as offense defense; the squid uses its powerful tentacle at the opponent, knocking them back.

Ice Familiar Silver Fang - Ivan summoned two wolves to maul at his opponent.

Absolute Zero Temperature - The ability to freeze their opponent instantly, in case their body is in a large block of ice.

Glacial Summons: Frosted Dead - A ability that allows Ivan to summon the opponents he killed to act as his familiars and have them fight for him. As shown, Ivan can summon the Sword Hero and Golem Hero, Siegfried and Jonas, of his generation, both of whom he killed during WWII. Ivan could also summon several soldiers from WWII that he likely killed in mass armed with guns.

Ice Lich[]

After being severely injured by Minsu Kim’s companions, Ivan was approached by the Goddess of the World of Glaciation, who then further empowered him and transformed him into Undead Lich in order to grant him more power in exchange for his memories of his "epic" i.e his life. This turned him into a being that, is described as a monster "beyond the realms of logic" and surpassing the power of the Demon Lord of the Sword World.

Frost Necromancy: After becoming a Lich, Ivan seemingly gained new abilities that were enhanced versions of his powers as the Glacial Hero. As shown, Ivan in particular gained the ability to conjure and create undead familiars that are infused with his element of ice and frost.
- Ice Skeletons: Ivan was shown to primarily fight by conjuring legions of frost skeletons, sending them out in mass in order to attack and surround his targets before having them maul them to death or crushing them to death by literally having them swarm and bury his enemies using their sheer number.
  - Glacial Summon Sphere of Human Skeleton: A technique where Ivan hurls gigantic spheres of his frost skeletons at his targets. Once hit, the skeletons surround his target and force them into the inside of the sphere where the skeletons begins eating them alive.
- Ice Dragon: From his skeletons, Ivan forms a skeletal dragon. As shown, this Dragon is powerful enough to overpower and slaughter two of the Sword Hero’s companions. As shown, the Dragon was physically powerful, able to breath out jets of blue fire and fly in high speeds across the sky.
Glacial Phantasm Spear: Marzanna: A frost spear.
Glacial Phantasm Spear: Veleth: A frost halberd axe.
Snowstorm: After his death as a Lich, Ivan was stated to have used his remaining power to cover the area where he fought Minsu Kim in a huge snow storm in order to stall him as much as he could to give his remaining allies to think of their next move.

Trivia[]

According to the Goddess of Glaciation, the current generation Glaciation Warrior failed to defeat the Demon Lord of Glaciation, resulting the Glaciation World being destroyed and effectively making Ivan the last Glaciation Warrior.
According to a Q&A conducted by Yongdol Gallery, although Pushkin has abandoned his Hero status in order to surpass the power of a Hero, he is not a Demon Lord. In fact, he is "something" that goes beyond the boundaries of a Hero and is neither a Hero nor a Demon Lord.
