Sun-Hwa Yoo was a minor character in The Warrior Returns. She was the Shield Warrior and one of the Resistance Warriors who sided with the South Korean government against the 9-Warriors. However, she was seemingly killed before the main story began.
"Sun-Hwa Yoo's birthday is February 1st"
Appearance[]
Sun-Hwa Yoo was a tall woman with green eyes and long, unkempt brown hair that reached her lower back. Her combat attire included black pauldrons with a similar design to a shield adorned with silver crosses, with two similar shield-shaped accessories on the sides of her waist. Green draped cape veils extend from beneath her pauldrons with a silver cross design on the bottom of the veils.
Personality[]
Sun-Hwa is an affectionate woman who always tries to talk to her enemies before resorting to violence, attempting to reason with Minsu Kim and Uiho Jeong and even successfully redeeming the former in one timeline. However, whilst in battle, she can also be quite underhanded, continuously goading Uiho into attacking her to charge up her shield's ability.
As shown, Sun-Hwa has always been one of the most compassionate of the current generation's heroes. As shown during her fight against Uiho Jeong and Minsu Kim, Sun-Hwa is perhaps the only one who holds out hope that the Fallen Heroes can redeem themselves and refuses to kill them under the belief that it still wasn’t too late for them to redeem themselves and make up for their crimes, despite their blatant refusal to her words and active hatred and bloodthirst. However, this persistent compassion has also been noted to have indeed made the fallen heroes falter in the past, as shown in some of the previous timelines created by Seongjun Lee, where Sun-Hwa managed to convince Minsu Kim to rethink his nihilistic mindset, made him acknowledge his errors and try to make up for his actions and even convinced him to surrender to her. Resulting in Seongjun continuously resetting the timeline to prevent these outcomes.
Sun-Hwa’s kindness has been evident since her childhood, so much so that she suffered from survivor's guilt after receiving a heart transplant to save her life from a terminal illness she had as a child. As shown, Sun-Hwa was deeply conflicted with this event, as the heart she received was from a young child of a similar age to herself when she was ill. Sun-Hwa felt like she was the life she was fortunate to have for granted at the cost of others. As she wasn’t exceptional, special, or truly happy, Sun-Hwa felt deeply conflicted and actively questioned what was the point of her life and how she should live it to ensure that the sacrifice of the person who donated their heart to her wasn’t wasted. This caused her to become deeply depressed in her teenage years, to the point that she actively considered suicide.
However, upon speaking to the mother of her heart’s donor, Sun-Hwa’s outlook in life became much happier. She soon resolved to do what everyone else could do, to help others if it was within her means to and live her life as best as she can with as few regrets. Asnoted by the Knights off the Round, its this mindset that allowed her to be chosen to be the Shield Hero and the position holder of Galahad, as the resolve to give aid to someone just because they can is the cornerstone of the needed mindset to be summoned to the Otherworld of Shield.
History[]
Otherworld[]

Sun-Hwa was summoned to the Otherworld of Shield. A world, or rather a universe where advanced interstellar technology was possible. She was summoned to defeat the rampaging Demon Lord of that Otherworld who terrorized several planets under the protection of the “Knights of the Round Table”, who summoned her to fill in the position of Galahad.
After defeating the Demon Lord, Sun-Hwa was returned to her homeworld of Earth.
Original Timeline[]
In the original timeline, before Seongjun Lee began altering events, Sun-Hwa was one of the Resistance Warriors who fought against that world's 9-Warriors. After the war, she married Minsu Kim and started a family.
Alternate Timelines[]
In many subsequent timelines caused by Seongjun's time-looping, Sun-Hwa continued to be in a relationship with Minsu. The two of them also tried to help Seongjun find a way to stop his looping. Unfortunately, Sun-Hwa and Seongjun ultimately became enemies when the latter joined the 9-Warriors in hopes that one of the Rebel Warriors might be able to kill him.
Seongjun's meddling with the timeline eventually resulted in the current world where Minsu snapped and joined the 9-Warriors, making him and Sun-Hwa enemies now. However, in at least one timeline, Sun-Hwa managed to successfully redeem Minsu and convince him to halt his rampage by letting him confide in her.
Synopsis[]
Current Timeline[]
After defeating the Demon King and returning to Earth, Sun-Hwa went on with her daily life. She was riding a train when Minsu Kim, began his rampage, and Jin Yu-Seong, the hero of magic, revealed his true identity to stop him, and the Korean government searched for heroes based on teenagers who had been missing for a year. Yeji Ahn came to Sun-Hwa's residence, hoping she'd fight against Minsu Kim. Sun-Hwa agreed, not wanting her world to fall to ruin. Concerned that she may be defeated, she asks Yeji to do the rest of her family a favour, but Yeji reassures her, saying that as an adult, she has no intention of sacrificing the young children.
Eventually, the Reconstructed Government tasks her with fighting the Iron Arm Warrior in order to capture him. Soon after she encounters him in a destroyed Busan. Before the fight began Sun-Hwa Yoo stated that she understood why he was committing this massacre, and that he must feel empty after coming back from the world that he was sent to, but that this was not the answer. This aggravates the Iron Arm Warrior, shouting and asking who she is to question his ways, and laughs when she claims that she is a fellow Warrior, instantly dashing forward to attack her. After several minutes of battle, the Iron Arm Warrior is knocked unconscious and is restrained, flown away in a helicopter.
Powers & Abilities[]
Shield Skills: Her primary weapon was a large shield and as such possessed powerful skills using it. The shield had been stated by the Iron Arm Warrior to have equal durability as he does.
- Covert Mode: Her armour and Shield can be turned temporarily invisible and retain their effects, though she cannot access any of her quests while in Covert Mode. It can be deactivated by pressing a white plus symbol beneath her neck, attached to her armor, and saying "Command, End Stealth Mode. Activate Sir Galahad, Knight Of The Round Table".
- 1st Quest Adversity: Once her shield has withstood a sufficient number of attacks, the First Quest will be completed, granting her access to the Shield Of Joseph Of Arimathea and automatically unlocking the 2nd Quest. The attacks are measured in Leonhardt, a fictional unit of measurement.
- Shield Of Joseph Of Arimathea: The center of the Shield will open up and release Shield Thrust, a shock wave-based attack that rattles the brain and has its attack potency based on how strong of an attack the Shield Hero blocked with her Shield. After withstanding a full-power Day Breaker attack from Minsu Kim, it was capable of releasing a shock wave that destroyed a significant portion of land. Additionally, the Shield Thrust knocked the Iron Arm Warrior unconscious for several hours with a single blow that rattled his brain.
- 2nd Quest Epic: After accessing this quest, the system will calculate the number of intelligent beings who trust her. If sufficient, the quest will be completed, granting her the Blessing Of The King Fisher and unlocking the 3rd Quest. The number of intelligent beings who trust her is measured in Leonhardt.
- Blessing Of The King Fisher: The two draped cape veils attached to her back will fly forward and anchor themselves to the floor in front of her. These veils prevent the Shield Hero from being knocked back and are capable of pulling her forward. A green grid pattern will spread across Sun-Hwa Yoo's body and the drape cape veils, calculating the damage she has received to determine if she qualifies for the 3rd Quest, 'Sacrifice'.
- 3rd Quest Sacrifice: Upon receiving sufficient damage which is calculated through the Blessing Of The King Fisher, the Armament Of The Perfect Knight will be released and grant her access to the 4th Quest. The amount of damage received is measured in Leonhardt.
- Armament Of The Perfect Hero: A Valkyrie helmet will appear on her head, although it is not stated whether it provides anything other than additional armor.
- 4th Quest Qualification: After obtaining the Quest, the system will calculate the total value of life the Shield Hero is trying to protect. If it is deemed sufficient, she gains access to the Fairies Of The Lake. The total value of life that is being protected is measured in Leonhardt.
- Fairies Of The Lake: The space next to the Shield Hero will shatter like a mirror, opening a portal from which several fairies will emerge and scatter across the battlefield. These fairies are small mechanical constructs that work together to create and power a large green defensive barrier in front of the Shield Hero to improve her defensive capabilities and increase the range of her protection. Dozens of these fairies are scattered across the area she is trying to protect to effectively protect the civilians.
- Fairies Of The Lake 'Road To Paradise': Sun-Hwa Yoo commands numerous fairies toward her target where they surround them within a barrier of layered green defensive barriers to either capture them or to protect them from attacks.
- 5th Quest Salvation: After withstanding an attack, the system calculates the number of lives that have been saved and measures whether it is enough for her to gain access to. The number of lives that have been protected is measured in Leonhardt. The 5th Quest is the final quest available to Sun-Hwa Yoo
- Leonhardt-Grade Superconductive Cruiser 'Shield Vessel': Upon the quest being completed every person that Sun-Hwa Yoo saved to complete the quest will have a small green star symbol manifest above their heads. The green star symbols will shine and release a green light upward into the sky where it will gather into a singular orb of pulsating green energy that fires into the sky and causes a storm to form above it. As the beam of light interacts with the storm above it, the sky will begin to crack open in a similar way to the Fairies Of The Lake but on a much larger scale, and from the crack in the sky a gigantic kite-shaped mechanical shield akin to Sun-Hwa Yoo's shield will float in the sky like a ship, she is capable of 'linking' to the giant shield which presumably allows her to control it. The Shield Vessel has been shown to block a full power Daybreaker slash from Minsu Kim. As shown in her last moments, Sun-Hwa could mentally telekinetically manipulate this large version of her shield, having used it to protect innocent civilians escaping from South Korea by shielding them from large debris from falling on them and moving it out of the way.
- Cruiser Module Unleash Citadel Fortification: By issuing a command to the Shield Vessel, Sun-Hwa Yoo can cause it to slam into the ground and shed its fortifications as large green spikes manifest, pointing out of the ground, while the Shield Vessel that has had its fortifications removed will look identical to her shield and will remain functional, floating in the sky and allowing the Shield Hero to issue commands to both the shield. A large structure made of the pieces of fortification released by the shield will remain the ground and power its centre, and once it has a sufficient charge and permission from Sun-Hwa Yoo it will replicate 4 of the Knights from the Shield World to fight for her, they are not the actual knights, but rather dummies generated using their recorded battle data. As explained, this technique is the ultimate move of the “Knights of the Round Table”, the ones who defend the Galactic Order and thus can only be used when approval is given by the central system “Merlin”. As revealed, as long as the “Divine Power”, the amount of lives that Sun-Hwa is protecting is maintained, the technique’s power will not wane. Each of the replicated knights are extremely powerful, with them being as powerful as Heroes and due them technically not being real, they cannot be killed conventionally.
- Sir Bedivere: One of the four knights replicated via the Shield Vessel, with his real self located in the Shield World. He is depicted as a towering figure, clad in massive medieval armour, wielding a large mechanical hammer. As shown, Sir Bedivere’s Hammer is extremely powerful, able to push back and severely injure the Iron Arm Hero Uiho Jeong.
- Dual Sword Knight: A dual bladed wielding knight. As shown, this knight specialises in dual wielding swords and was powerful and quick enough to fight against the Martial Arts Hero Jiseong Cheon.
- Knight King: The dummy created using the combat data of the Knight King of the Galactic Knights of the Round of the World of Shield. He is a somber looking knight that fights using a long rapier. As shown, the Knight King is a speed based fighter and can instantly mow down dozens of Hana Baek’s brainwashed believers and kill her numerous times.
- Gun Knight: A knight who fights using a energy rifle. As shown, the shots fired by this knight is powerful enough to destroy numerous Golems of the Golem Hero Seungu Jeon.
- Cruiser Module Unleash Citadel Fortification: By issuing a command to the Shield Vessel, Sun-Hwa Yoo can cause it to slam into the ground and shed its fortifications as large green spikes manifest, pointing out of the ground, while the Shield Vessel that has had its fortifications removed will look identical to her shield and will remain functional, floating in the sky and allowing the Shield Hero to issue commands to both the shield. A large structure made of the pieces of fortification released by the shield will remain the ground and power its centre, and once it has a sufficient charge and permission from Sun-Hwa Yoo it will replicate 4 of the Knights from the Shield World to fight for her, they are not the actual knights, but rather dummies generated using their recorded battle data. - Holy Grail: The Holy Grail was said to be something that all Knights of the Round Table sought, but only the Knight summoned from another world, "Galahad" is the only one who truly acquires it. As explained, the reason for this is due to the fact that only someone who understood what "sacrifice" truly is, is someone who is willing to put their life on the line for the sake of saving and protecting a world that wasn't their own, someone who contemplated living for the sake of others even before they are summoned to the Otherworld of Shield. As revealed, the "Holy Grail", once acquired by Sun-Hwa, offered her extremely powerful rewards for successfully acquiring the Grail. The rewards offered are;
- Promised Sword of Victory:
- Fairyland Avalon:
- Spear that Pierces All:
- Knights of the Round Table: The reward Sun-Hwa chose, this rewards allows her to mandate a "code" within the area of the roundtable, with the forcibility and duration of this code being proportionate to the sacrifice required to power it. As shown, by sacrificing her life force and all her divine power, Sun-Hwa can then place a "code" which forces all beings within the designated territory of her land to follow it. As shown, the code she designated is " that all beings within the Round table are no longer allowed to harm each other". This code prevents all beings within her designated territory from hurting each other. As described by Garam Lee and Hana Baek, this code completely altered the area of effect, rendering them unable to fight or harm anyone else, nor access any of their abilities and powers when they think of using it to hurt anyone else, with Hana describing as if some law of physics was preventing or rather, making it as if the concept of fighting never existed. As shown, when Seongjun Lee and Uiho Jeong tried to attack Sun-Hwa, this code caused Seongjun to immediately let go of his sword and prevented him from picking it up and when Uiho attempted to dash towards her to attack, it was as if all the energy from his body drained away and he collapsed instantly. The Holy Grail converts the entirety of Sun-Hwa's life force and divine power into energy to sustain this code, of which will the last for approximately 42 hours, 23 minutes and 17 seconds. As noted by Sun-Hwa, the Holy Grail also altered her "demise", despite being stabbed through the heart, Sun-Hwa's life was extended to a slight extent due to her death now being due to her lifeforce now being slowly drained from her by the Holy Grail to fuel her code.
Trivia[]
- Sun-Hwa's design seems to be based on Naofumi Iwatani from the light novel series The Rising of the Shield Hero, both having spiky hair, a somewhat intimidating figure, a primarily green colour scheme, and a shield as their primary weapon. Another inspiration and basis for Sun-Hwa is Mash Kyrielight from the popular RPG game, Fate/Grand Order and the Fate Type-Moon Franchise. Specifically, how Sun-Hwa's powers being based from Arthurian Legends and her using a large shield as her main weapon and her holding the position of “Galahad”.
- Additonally, Sun-Hwa’s ability to summon several dummies/clones of her comrades from the Otherworld of Shield is also similar to the concept of Servants from the Type-Moon universe.
- According to the Yongdol Gallery Q&A, before Seongjun Lee decided to make Minsu Kim the Demon Lord and he was attempting to make other corrupted Heroes turn into Demon Lords, the Shield Hero, and the Transformation Hero were the most likely candidates for being the Demon Lord's "adversary". This is because the "potential" within Jeongsu Park was only discovered after Minsu Kim was corrupted and killed him, letting him become the Spear Hero.
- As stated by the Knight King and Sir Bedivere of the World of Shield, Sun-Hwa is the 3rd "Galahad" of the most recent line up of Shield Heroes to use the "Knights of the Round Table" reward of the Holy Grail. With her direct predecessor, the "Galahad" of 100 years ago, the Shield Hero of the 20th Century and the "Galahad" from 300 years ago being the previous ones to use this reward.
