Yuseong Jin was a minor antagonist in The Warrior Returns. He was the Magic Warrior and one of the Resistance Warriors who sided with the South Korean government against the 9-Warriors, though he only did so for his own selfish reasons. At some point before the main story, he was slain by Minsu Kim.

Appearance[]

Yuseong Jin had short black hair, gold eyes, and wore glasses. He wore a white dress, black tie, and a vest underneath a blue work robe.

Personality[]

As noted by Yeji Ahn, Yuseong was a narcissist with a messiah complex, something even he himself was aware of to some degree. Prior to becoming a Warrior, he hated being average, be it his living situation or his abilities, with his greatest fear being getting forgotten by the world. As a result, after becoming a Warrior, he grew extremely corrupt on his new powers, taking whatever he wanted and forcing the inhabitants of his other world to worship him.

After returning to Earth with his newly acquired ego, Yuseong now found his mundane life to be "hellish" and believed that he was going to snap, something that actually happened in alternate timelines. As a result, he was actually overjoyed when Minsu Kim began his rampage, believing he could once again be a Warrior. To this end, he willingly approached the South Korean government and blackmailed them, offering to combat the Sword Warrior only in return for political power and a vast sum of money.

He was also extremely overconfident in his own abilities, being completely convinced that he could easily defeat Minsu and being unable to comprehend how he could easily endure his most powerful attack. He even openly insulting his former teachers once he surpassed them, calling their spellcasting archaic. Yuseong's arrogance led to his own demise as he hadn't faced warriors who experienced fighting and killing mage type fighters.

History[]

Youth[]

Growing up in the hyper competitive education system of South Korea, Yuseong was always envious of those who he considered "successful". At the same time, he hated himself for only being "average", be it his grades, family status, physical abilities, relationships, or other miscellaneous skills. In the end, these feelings of inferiority bottled up until he finally snapped, ranting to himself that he does not want to end up being forgotten by the world. At that moment, he was summoned to another world.

Other World[]

After being summoned to his otherworld, Yuseong was greeted by his summoners, who were presumably four master magicians/wizards of that world, who then proceeded to train him in the native magic of their world and help him combat the Demon King’s forces.

After training him, the four wizards would presumably teach him their magic and their goal of creating new magic circles. However, Yuseong, having mastered the magic taught to him, instead created a new method of utilizing the existing magic circles by piling them up each other in order to create new forms of magic.

Warrior Crisis[]

At some point after defeating his other world's Demon Lord, Yuseong returned to Earth. However, having had a taste of "success", he now despised his mundane life even more than before, hating having to mingle with "ordinary" people, to the point of wanting to use his new powers to "destroy everything".

Current Timeline[]

In the current timeline, Yuseong Jin did not go through the same trauma he went through in the original timeline, having instead become one of the heroes who sided with the government to stop the rampaging heroes.

During the botched operation (dubbed the "Fighting Ring") of the government to stop the 9 warriors, they had each of their heroes fight 1 on 1 against the 9 warriors, instead of having them team up together in order to ambush and corner each of the 9 warriors individually. This operation was initiated by the incompetent government agents placed in charge of the heroes, who due to the immense power possessed by Heroes, feared them and believed that they could lose control and go on a rampage like the 9 warriors had. Causing them to instead pit them 1 on 1 against each other in the hopes that they would kill each other, or at least weaken the surviving victor for them to easily kill them.

Following this plan, Yuseong Jin was pitted against Minsu Kim. Jin was shown to have initially been very confident, as he believed his magic and long range firepower gave him an edge against close quarter fighters like the Sword Hero. This is in spite of the fact that Minsu had taken Yuseong's most powerful spell without a scratch. When Minsu decapitates him in one attack, Yuseong's last thoughts are of shock and confusion.

Original Timeline[]

In the original timeline, because Minsu Kim did not go on a rampage for him to take advantage of, Yuseong eventually snapped from his "hellish mundane life" and went on a rampage himself. Together with the other 8-warriors of this world, he caused mass destruction until he was killed by the Resistance Warriors, which in this timeline included Seongjun Lee and Minsu Kim.

Synopsis[]

Ch.48 - Yuseong Jin’s corpse and Relics

Yuseong Jin’s remains

A year after his death and defeat, the remains of the Korean Government made their final operation in defiance to the 9-Warriors. In order to empower the Spear Hero, the single remaining hero strong enough to fight the other mad heroes, the Government launched an operation to collect the Relics, the equipment left behind by the deceased Heroes who sided with them, in order to give to the Spear Hero and empower him enough to kill the insane Heroes.

To achieve that, the Reconstruction Government successfully excavated his skeletal remains in order to retrieve his staff and spell book.

As shown, Yuseong can literally lift huge piles of earth in order to gain a higher vantage point to fire and bombard his targets from higher ground.
